Italian Matteo Arnaldi, the No 8 seed, advanced to the last eight of the Geneva Open by winning against Hungarian Fabian Marozsan 6-3, 7-6 (3) at Tennis Club de Genève, Parc des Eaux-Vives on Wednesday afternoon.
Arnaldi, ranked No 39, will play the winner of the match between Hungarian Marton Fucsovics and Serb Novak Djokovic, the second seed, next.
The Italian edged out Frenchman Hugo Gaston (6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of the Geneva tournament.
During the first round of the Geneva tournament, Marozsan, ranked No 56, beat Brazilian qualifier Karue Sell (6-1, 6-1).
