Geneva Open: Ofner knocks out Khachanov to make semi-finals

Austrian qualifier Sebastian Ofner reached the last 4 of the Geneva Open by edging out Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 4 seed, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 at Tennis Club de Genève, Parc des Eaux-Vives.
Ofner, ranked No 128, will play the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the top seed, and Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 6 seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Austrian won against Russian qualifier Ivan Gakhov (6-1, 6-2) and Portuguese Nuno Borges (7-6 (2), 7-6 (4)).
Khachanov, ranked No 24, benefited from the abandonment of Japanese Kei Nishikori (7-5, 2-5) in the previous round of the Geneva tournament.
