Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 6 seed, won against Frenchman Alexandre Muller 7-6 (4), 6-7 (6), 6-3 to reach the last four of the Hamburg Open at Tennis Stadion.
Auger-Aliassime, ranked No 30, will face Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 3 seed, next.
The Canadian defeated German Daniel Altmaier (6-3, 6-3) and Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (6-2, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Hamburg tournament, Muller, ranked No 40, beat Swede qualifier Elias Ymer (6-3, 7-5) and edged out German Alexander Zverev, the top seed (6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (5)).
