Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 10 seed, edged out Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to reach the third round of Roland-Garros at Roland-Garros in Paris on Thursday afternoon.
Badosa, ranked No 10, will face the winner of the match between Australian Daria Kasatkina, the No 17 seed, and French wildcard Leolia Jeanjean next.
The Spaniard edged out Japanese Naomi Osaka (6-7 (1), 6-1, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Ruse, ranked No 80, defeated American McCartney Kessler (7-5, 7-6 (3)).
