Roland-Garros: Fearnley moves into third round after Humbert succumbs to calf pain

Jacob Fearnley advanced to the third round of Roland-Garros when Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 22 seed, retired at Roland-Garros in Paris on Thursday evening.

Fearnley, ranked No 55, led 6-3, 4-4 when Humbert, ranked No 21, pulled out on Thursday evening at Roland-Garros in Paris – due to leg discomfort after suffering a fall.

The world No 21 returned to court after taking a medical timeout, but the calf pain was seemingly a bridge too far.

The Brit extends his remarkable record against French players to 18-0 on the professional circuit.

Jacob Fearnley will face Cameron Norrie next.

Fearnley won against Swiss wildcard Stan Wawrinka (7-6 (6), 6-3, 6-2) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of the Roland-Garros 2025, the Frenchman defeated Australian Christopher O’Connell (7-5, 6-3, 7-6 (3)).
