Roland-Garros: Andreeva reaches Grand Slam Round of 16 for the fifth time
Mirra Andreeva won against Yulia Putintseva 6-3, 6-1 on Saturday. She’ll face the winner of the match between Australian Daria Kasatkina, the No 17 seed, and Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 10 seed, in the next round

Mirra Andreeva advanced to the Round of 16 at Roland-Garros for the second time in her career by defeating Yulia Putintseva 6-3, 6-1 on Saturday morning.
The Russian, who reached the semifinals in Paris in 2024, continues to impress on clay. At just 18 years and 26 days old, Andreeva has now reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the fifth time, including twice at Roland-Garros. This marks her second consecutive appearance in the Round of 16 at a major tournament, following her performance at the Australian Open earlier this year.
With this victory, Andreeva becomes the youngest player to achieve 30 or more career wins by the end of Roland-Garros since Maria Sharapova in 2005, and the first teenager to do so since Victoria Azarenka in 2009.
I’m very happy with how I played today.
She is also the youngest player to win 10 singles matches at Roland-Garros since Martina Hingis, who accomplished the feat at 16 years and 238 days old in 1997.
“Yulia is a very tricky opponent who likes to disrupt rhythm,” Andreeva said in her on-court interview with Marion Bartoli. “I struggled a bit at the start but managed to adapt. I’m very happy with how I played today.”
Mirra Andreeva will face Daria Kasatkina in the next round.
Earlier in the tournament, the 18-year-old Russian won against Spaniard Cristina Bucsa (6-4, 6-3) and American Ashlyn Krueger (6-3, 6-4).
Putintseva, ranked No 31, defeated Argentinian qualifier Solana Sierra (7-6 (4), 6-2) and qualifier Joanna Garland (7-6 (5), 6-3) in the previous rounds.
