Learner Tien moved into the quarter-finals of the Mallorca Open by winning against top seed Ben Shelton 6-4, 7-6 (2) at Mallorca Country Club on Wednesday.
Tien, ranked No 67, will play Frenchman Corentin Moutet next.
Learner Tien defeated German wildcard Justin Engel (6-4, 6-4) ahead of his victory.
