Britain’s Kartal into Wimbledon third round for second year in a row
Sonay Kartal beat Viktoriya Tomova 6-2, 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon and will face the winner of the match between Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 12 seed, and French qualifier Diane Parry in the next round

British woman Sonay Kartal moved into the third round of Wimbledon by beating Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova 6-2, 6-2 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Wednesday.
Kartal, ranked No 51, will face the winner of the match between Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 12 seed, and French qualifier Diane Parry next.
This is the second year in a row that the Brit is through to the third round of her home Grand Slam.
Kartal won against Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 20 seed (7-5, 2-6, 6-2) in the first round of The Championships.
Tomova, ranked No 111, benefited from the retirement of Tunisian Ons Jabeur (7-6 (5), 2-0) in her opening match.
