Swiss Belinda Bencic moved into the last 8 of Wimbledon by winning against Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 18 seed, 7-6 (4), 6-4 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Monday afternoon.
Bencic, ranked No 35, will face the winner of the match between Russian Mirra Andreeva, the No 7 seed, and American Emma Navarro, the No 10 seed, next.
The Swiss defeated Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto (6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7)), French qualifier Elsa Jacquemot (4-6, 6-1, 6-2) and American Alycia Parks (6-0, 6-3) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Alexandrova, ranked No 17, beat Zeynep Sonmez (6-3, 7-6 (1)), Dutchwoman Suzan Lamens (6-4, 6-0) and Australian qualifier Priscilla Hon (6-2, 7-5).
