Third final, third title for Luciano Darderi on the ATP Tour! The 23‑year‑old Italian, seeded No. 6, lifted the trophy at the Bastad tournament this Sunday afternoon, defeating Dutchman Jesper De Jong 6‑4, 3‑6, 6‑3.

After Córdoba in 2024 and Marrakech in April, Darderi once again triumphed on clay, his favorite surface. This victory in Bastad will bring him back into the Top 50, which he had left last month.

Quickly down 3‑0 in the final, the Italian responded perfectly by winning five consecutive games to take a 5‑3 lead with a break in hand. Stunned by this shift, Jesper De Jong, playing in his first career ATP final, couldn’t stop his opponent from taking the first set.

Darderi won by just three points more than De Jong

The Dutchman fought back in the second set, saving three break points—two in the first game and one at 2‑2. He then capitalized on his only break opportunity to take a 5‑3 lead and level the match on a flawless game.

Reflecting a tightly contested match, the two players ended with nearly identical point totals—80 for the Italian, 77 for the Dutchman. In the deciding set, Darderi made the difference by breaking De Jong’s serve on his only chance at 2‑1. From then on, he held his lead with composure.

After his sixth ace in the match, he collapsed on the Swedish clay to savor his title, his second of 2025. He succeeds Portuguese Nuno Borges in the tournament’s honours list, who had defeated Rafael Nadal in last year’s final.
