Citi Open: Wu advances to second round, outlasting Monfils

Chinese qualifier Yibing Wu, now ranked No. 243, won his first match at Tour level this season, four months after his return after a long break for injury.
Wu won against Frenchman Gael Monfils 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the second round of the Citi Open, where Monfils advanced to at least the semi-final stage in three of previous five appearances, winning the 2016 edition.
Wu, made history by becoming first Chinese ATP Tour champion by winning 2023 Dallas. He will now play against Alexi Popyrin.
