Citi Open: Fritz reaches the quarter-finals without a hitch

American Taylor Fritz, the top seed, advanced to the last 8 of the Citi Open by winning against Italian Matteo Arnaldi 6-3, 6-4 at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Washington on Thursday night.
Fritz, ranked No 4, will face Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 12 seed, next.
The American defeated Australian Aleksandar Vukic (6-3, 6-2) ahead of his victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Arnaldi, ranked No 44, won against No 16 seed Lorenzo Sonego (7-5, 7-5) and edged out German Daniel Altmaier (4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (2)).
