Toronto Masters: Shelton reaches third round defeating Mannarino

American Ben Shelton, the No 4 seed, beat French qualifier Adrian Mannarino 6-2, 6-3 to move into the third round of the Toronto Masters at the Aviva Centre on Wednesday.

Shelton, now ranked No 8 at the ATP rankings, will face the winner of the match between No 25 seed Brandon Nakashima and Ethan Quinn next.

In the previous round of the Rogers Cup, Mannarino, ranked No 93, won against American Marcos Giron (6-4, 6-4).
