Swiatek first into Cincinnati round of 16 after Kostyuk withdrawal

Pole Iga Swiatek, the No 3 seed, reached the last 16 of the Cincinnati Open after Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 25 seed, withdrew before the match on Monday night at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
“Marta Kostyuk has withdrawn from the singles main draw due to a right wrist injury. Iga Swiatek advances via walkover” wrote the tournament in a media release.
Swiatek, ranked No 3, will play the winner of the match between Romanian Sorana Cirstea and Chinese lucky loser Yue Yuan next.
The Pole defeated Russian Anastasia Potapova (6-1, 6-4) ahead of her victory. In the previous round of the Cincinnati tournament, Kostyuk, ranked No 28, won against German Tatjana Maria (6-0, 6-1).
