Cincinnati Open: Yastremska withdraws for “severe intoxication”, Gauff makes last 16
Coco Gauff benefited from the forfeit of Dayana Yastremska on Tuesday

American Coco Gauff, the second seed, moved into the last 16 of the Cincinnati Open after Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, the No 32 seed, withdrew two hours before the match on Tuesday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
“For the past few days, I’ve been taking strong antibiotics, which have caused severe intoxication”, Yastremska explained to the media Ukrainian Tennis. I even considered skipping my previous match, but I was hoping it would pass.”
“However, under physical exertion my heart rate spikes and I feel extremely weak. During the match against Tomova (6-4, 2-6, 6-2), I felt really unwell – my heart was just racing… Yesterday I didn’t practice at all, and together with my doctors we decided not to risk my health. For now, I’ll take a few days off from training, and then I’ll start preparing for the US Open.”
Gauff, ranked No 2, will face the winner of the match between Italian Lucia Bronzetti and Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 23 seed, next.
