Cincinnati Open: Swiatek advances to semi-finals

Pole Iga Swiatek, the No 3 seed, won against Russian Anna Kalinskaya, the No 28 seed, 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Open at the Lindner Family Tennis Center on Friday.
Iga Swiatek dominated Anna Kalinskaya in key areas, creating 11 break point chances and converting three. Swiatek applied constant pressure in return games, with Kalinskaya having to face break points in nearly every service game. Kalinskaya saved eight but was broken at crucial moments.
Swiatek’s serve was steady throughout, winning 82,8% of first-serve points and 62,5% on second serve. She faced only two break points, saving one. In contrast, Kalinskaya won just 48,3% of her second-serve points, leaving her exposed.
Swiatek, ranked No 3, will play the winner of the match between Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed, and Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 9 seed, next.
