Winston-Salem Open: Mpetshi Perricard makes second semi-final of the year

Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, the No 9 seed, beat Serb Hamad Medjedovic 7-6 (8), 6-2 to reach the semi-finals of the Winston-Salem Open at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Thursday night.
Mpetshi Perricard, ranked No 42, will play the winner of the match between Chinese Yunchaokete Bu and Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp next.
Ahead of his victory, the 22-year-old Frenchman won against No 8 seed Alexandre Muller (6-3, 6-2) and edged out Spaniard Pedro Martinez Portero (2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (3)).
Medjedovic, ranked No 72, won against Canadian Gabriel Diallo, the No 4 seed (6-4, 6-2), Englishman Jacob Fearnley, the No 15 seed (6-4, 7-6 (2)) and Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech (6-3, 7-6 (9)) in the previous rounds of the Winston-Salem tournament.
