US Open: Sabalenka books spot in third round against former runner-up Fernandez
The world No 1 defeated 64th-ranked Polina Kudermetova 7-6 (4), 6-2 in the second round

World No 1 Aryna Sabalenka, from Belarus, moved into the third round of the US Open by defeating Russian Polina Kudermetova 7-6 (4), 6-2 in New York on Wednesday night.
Sabalenka, ranked No 1, will face Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 31 seed and former US Open runner-up, next at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center
The Belarusian defeated Swiss Rebeka Masarova (7-5, 6-1) in her first round match earlier in the week.
Kudermetova, ranked No 64 in the world, had come through following the retirement of Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz (2-2) in the first round.
