Stockholm Open: Ruud into high profile semi-finals

Casper Ruud edged out Sebastian Korda 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-4 on Friday evening.

Norwegian Casper Ruud, the second seed, edged out American Sebastian Korda 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-4 to move into the last 4 of the Stockholm Open at the Kungliga Tennishallen on Friday evening.

Ruud, ranked No 12, will face the winner of the match between Swede wildcard Elias Ymer and Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 3 seed, next.

This is Ruud’s second semifinal on Tour since his win at the Madrid Masters 1000 in May. The Norwegian won against Croat Marin Cilic (7-6 (2), 6-4) ahead of his victory to reach this level.

Earlier in the tournament, Korda, ranked No 60, edged out Pole Kamil Majchrzak (6-4, 4-6, 7-5) and defeated Australian Alexei Popyrin, the No 7 seed (6-7 (4), 6-1, 6-3).
