Paris Masters: Altmaier books spot in last 16, Ruud out of the ATP Finals race
Daniel Altmaier won against Casper Ruud 6-3, 7-5 on Wednesday and will play the winner of the match between Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 9 seed, and Frenchman Alexandre Muller in the next round

German Daniel Altmaier reached the last 16 of Paris Masters by winning against Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 8 seed, 6-3, 7-5 at the Paris La Défense Arena on Wednesday.
Casper Ruud, the world No. 11, is now out of the Race for the Top 9 positions that qualify for the ATP Finals. This marks his fourth first-round loss this season.
Altmaier, ranked No 50, will face the winner of the match between Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 9 seed, and Frenchman Alexandre Muller next.
The German, a qualifier, won four matches since Saturday in Paris and defeated American Marcos Giron (6-2, 7-6 (5)) ahead of this victory.
It’s his second Top 10 win this year after defeating No. 4 Fritz in Roland-Garros. It’s also his fourth
ATP Masters 1000 Round of 16 after 2023 Madrid, 2023 Paris and Monte-Carlo earlier this year.
