Tennis fans in Seoul were treated to more than just a preview of the 2026 season yesterday. Ahead of their Hyundai Card Super Match 14, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner openly discussed the possibility of joining forces on the doubles court.

While the grueling singles schedule remains their priority, neither player ruled out a future “Sincaraz” pairing. “At least once would be fine,” Alcaraz joked, already plotting the tactics: “I think I play forehand and he plays backhand”. Sinner was equally enthusiastic, suggesting that while their schedules are packed, they have discussed the idea several times.

The Laver Cup option

The prospect of such a team carries significant weight, especially given the history of the Laver Cup. While fans have long dreamt of seeing the “New Two” on the same side of the net in Team Europe’s blue, their experiences with the event differ greatly.

Carlos Alcaraz has already become a staple of the competition, participating in both Berlin (2024) and San Francisco (2025). In his 2024 debut, he partnered with Alexander Zverev (a loss to Fritz/Shelton). In 2025, he found success alongside Casper Ruud (a victory over Tiafoe/Shelton) and alongside rising star Jakub Mensik, defeating the American pair of Fritz and Michelsen.

Jannik Sinner, conversely, has yet to make his Laver Cup debut. Despite his dominance on the ATP tour, scheduling conflicts and physical management have kept him away from the team format thus far. If the Italian finally joins the roster in 2026, the banter shared in Seoul suggests that a Federer-Nadal style doubles pairing could finally move from a press conference “teaser” to a reality on the global stage.
