ASB Classic: Mpetshi Perricard moves into last eight

Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard edged out Englishman Cameron Norrie, the No 5 seed, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4) to reach the quarter-finals of the ASB Classic on Wednesday night.

Mpetshi Perricard, ranked No 67, will play the winner of the match between Serb qualifier Hamad Medjedovic and Czech Jakub Mensik, the No 3 seed, next.

Ahead of his victory, the 22-year-old Frenchman won against Spanish wildcard Roberto Bautista Agut (6-3, 7-6 (2)). Norrie, ranked No 28, beat French qualifier Hugo Gaston (6-3, 6-4) in the previous round.
