Adelaide International: Mboko advances to semi-finals, defeating Keys

Canadian Victoria Mboko, the No 8 seed, moved into the last four of the Adelaide International by beating American Madison Keys, the second seed, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 on Thursday night.

Mboko, ranked No 18, will play Australian wildcard Kimberly Birrell next.

Earlier in the tournament, the 19-year-old Canadian edged out Russian Anna Kalinskaya (6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (6)) and won against Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia (5-7, 6-3, 6-2).

Keys, ranked No 9, and Australian Open champion, defeated Czech qualifier Tereza Valentova (6-4, 6-1) in the previous round.
