Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the top seed, beat Monégasque Valentin Vacherot, the No 5 seed, 7-6 (4), 6-2 to advance to the semi-finals of the Adelaide International on Thursday.
Davidovich Fokina, ranked No 15, will face Frenchman Ugo Humbert next.
Earlier in the tournament, Vacherot, ranked No 31, benefited from the forfeit of Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis and won against Serb Miomir Kecmanovic (7-6 (5), 6-4).
