Cristina Bucsa produced one of the most dominant scorelines of the round, dispatching Denisa Vidmanova 6-4, 6-0. She advances to the second round to face Ekaterina Alexandrova.

American victories also helped energize the home crowd. Taylor Townsend defeated Marie Bouzkova 6-2, 6-1 to reach the second round, where she will face Daria Kasatkina, while Ashlyn Krueger advanced past Magda Linette 6-1, 6-4 to set up a second-round match against Liudmila Samsonova.
