He started the tournament slowly, but he’s now playing his best tennis. Italian Jannik Sinner, the second seed, crushed German Alexander Zverev, the No. 3 seed, in a stunningly lopsided match, 6-0, 6-1, to advance to the final of the Paris Masters at the Paris La Défense Arena on Saturday evening in only 62 minutes.

“When you drop the physicality like he did, you can’t find full power on the serve, Sinner said. Obviously I’m happy to be in the final. But it’s not how you want to arrive.”

Sinner : “He was not 100%”

“Playing against Sascha is always a special occasion. Today he was not 100%. We saw that. He was struggling physically. He had a very tight schedule in the past months. Yesterday he won an incredible match from two match points down.”

“It’s also difficult mentally and physically. He made the final in Vienna. Semis here again. It’s an incredible run for him. We all hope he gets better and fit for Turin. From my side I’m very happy to be in the final.”

Sinner, ranked No 2, will play Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 9 seed, in the final. This is a virtual final between the two best indoor players in the world. Auger-Aliassime defeated Alexander Bublik earlier in the tournament.

The Italian didn’t lose any set during his run at the Rolex Paris Masters. He won against American Ben Shelton, the No 5 seed (6-3, 6-3), Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo (7-5, 6-1) and Belgian Zizou Bergs (6-4, 6-2) all along the way.

Zverev, ranked No 3, made what he could to defend his 2024 crown. He won against Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 11 seed (2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5)), Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 15 seed (6-2, 6-4) and Argentinian Camilo Ugo Carabelli (6-7 (5), 6-1, 7-5).
