Alert – Madrid Masters: Ruud makes last four
Casper Ruud defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 7-5 on Thursday afternoon and will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 20 seed, and No 22 seed Jakub Mensik in the next round

Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 14 seed, won against Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 9 seed, 6-3, 7-5 to move into the semi-finals of the Madrid Masters at the Caja Mágica on Thursday afternoon.
Ruud, ranked No 15, will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 20 seed, and No 22 seed Jakub Mensik next.
The Norwegian beat Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech (6-3, 6-4), American Sebastian Korda, the No 23 seed (6-3, 6-3) and American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed (7-5, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Madrid tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Medvedev, ranked No 10, won against Serb Laslo Djere (W/O), Argentinian qualifier Juan Manuel Cerundolo (6-2, 6-2) and American Brandon Nakashima, the No 31 seed (3-6, 6-1, 6-4).
