No 5 seed Sebastian Baez defeated qualifier Mariano Navone 6-2, 6-1 to win the Rio Open tournament at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday evening.
Earlier in the tournament, Baez, ranked No 30, beat French qualifier Corentin Moutet (6-4, 6-3), Facundo Diaz Acosta (7-6 (1), 6-3), Brazilian wildcard Thiago Monteiro (6-4, 1-6, 6-2) and No 4 seed Francisco Cerundolo (7-5, 6-0).
Navone, ranked No 113, defeated Federico Coria (1-6, 6-4, 6-2), German Yannick Hanfmann (6-1, 6-2), Brazilian wildcard Joao Fonseca (2-6, 6-3, 6-3) and second seed Cameron Norrie (6-4, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Rio tournament.
