Astana Open: Korda dispatches Borges to make the last eight

American Sebastian Korda, the No 5 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Astana Open by beating Portuguese Nuno Borges 6-4, 7-6 (4) at the Daulet National Tennis Center.

Korda, ranked No 28, will face Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the top seed, next.

In the previous round of the Nur-Sultan tournament, the American edged out Australian Alexei Popyrin (7-6 (5), 6-7 (4), 6-4).

Borges, ranked No 86, edged out Kazakh wildcard Mikhail Kukushkin (5-7, 7-6 (6), 6-4) during the first round of the Nur-Sultan tournament.
