Astana Open: Medjedovic makes second round after Djere retirement
Hamad Medjedovic benefited from the abandonment of Laslo Djere (6-3, 2-1) on Wednesday and will face the winner of the match between Russian wildcard Alexander Shevchenko and Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp in the next round

Wildcard Hamad Medjedovic reached the second round of the Astana Open when No 7 seed Laslo Djere retired at the Daulet National Tennis Center on Wednesday.
Medjedovic, ranked No 120, led 6-3, 2-1 when Djere, ranked No 37, pulled out on Wednesday at the Daulet National Tennis Center.
Hamad Medjedovic will play the winner of the match between Russian wildcard Alexander Shevchenko and Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp next.
