ATP Auckland: Norrie outlasts van Assche for spot in quarter-finals

Second seed Cameron Norrie reached the quater-finals of the Auckland Open by winning against French qualifier Luca Van Assche 6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-1 at the ASB Tennis Arena on Wednesday night.
Norrie almost saw his hopes of making yet another quarter-final in Auckland slip through his finger tips, as the Kiwi-born Brit went down a break early in the deciding set. However, the world No 19 then reeled off six consecutive games to close out the match in style.
Norrie, ranked No 19, will face Chilean qualifier Alejandro Tabilo next.
In the previous round of the Auckland tournament, Van Assche, ranked No 87, beat American J.J. Wolf (6-4, 6-2).
