ATP rankings: Alcaraz back up to No 2 after Monte-Carlo win

Carlos Alcaraz is back up to world No 2 after winning the Monte-Carlo Masters.

He swaps places with Alexander Zverev as he closes in a little more on Jannik Sinner at the top – but the Italian still has an extensive lead of over 2,000 points despite dropping 400 points this week.

Lorenzo Musetti, the Monte-Carlo runner-up, is up five spots to a new best of world No 11.

The week’s other big winner is the man he beat in the semi-final, Alex de Minaur, who rises three places to world No 7, still one short of his career-best placing.

Andrey Rublev goes up one place to No 8, while Daniil Medvedev returns to the Top 10 as world No 9 after reaching the Round of 16 on his least favourite surface.

Casper Ruud, who lost in the Round of 16 to Alexei Popyrin, drops down to world No 10, while Stefanos Tsitsipas – last year’s champion in Monte-Carlo – drops out of the Top 10 completely, falling eight spots to world No 16.

Further down the rankings, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina goes up 12 places to world No 30 thanks to his run to the Monte-Carlo semi-finals.
