Auger-Aliassime continues improvement as he beats Daniel to make Munich quarter-finals

Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 5 seed, reached the last eight of the Munich Open by winning against Japanese Taro Daniel 6-3, 6-2 at the MTTC Iphitos complex on Thursday evening.

Auger-Aliassime, ranked No 34, will face the winner of the match between Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp and German Jan-Lennard Struff, the No 4 seed, next.

Ahead of his victory, the Canadian edged out German Maximilian Marterer (6-7 (5), 7-6 (6), 7-6 (3)).

Daniel, ranked No 85, defeated Australian Christopher O’Connell (6-3, 6-4) in the previous round of the Munich tournament.
