Top seed Alcaraz holds off Davidovich Fokina to reach semi-finals in Barcelona

Top seed Carlos Alcaraz reached the semi-finals of the Barcelona Open by beating No 10 seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-6 (5), 6-4 at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Friday.
Alcaraz, ranked No 2, will face the winner of the match between Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 15 seed, and No 12 seed Dan Evans next.
Earlier in the tournament, Alcaraz won against Portuguese Nuno Borges (6-3, 6-1) and No 13 seed Roberto Bautista Agut (6-3, 7-5).
Davidovich Fokina, ranked No 38, won against Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry (6-3, 6-3) and Finn Emil Ruusuvuori (6-4, 7-5) in the previous rounds of the Barcelona tournament.
