Barcelona Open: De Minaur sets up quarter-final clash with Alcaraz
Alex De Minaur won against Jacob Fearnley 6-1, 6-2 on Thursday and will play Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed, in the next round

Australian Alex de Minaur, the No 5 seed, won against lucky loser Jacob Fearnley 6-1, 6-2 to move into the last eight of the Barcelona Open at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Thursday.
De Minaur, ranked No 7, will play Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed, next.
It is De Minaur’s 50th tour-level quarter-final, making him the third man born in 1999 or later to reach that milestone, joining Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jannik Sinner.
And it will be the Australian’s third quarter-final in Barcelona in the last four years.
The Australian defeated Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry (6-4, 6-4) ahead of his victory.
In the previous round of the Barcelona tournament, Fearnley, ranked No 74, beat Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (6-1, 7-5).
