Barcelona Open: Rune dominates defending champion Ruud to book semi-final spot

Dane Holger Rune, the No 6 seed, defeated Norwegian Casper Ruud, the second seed, 6-4, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals of the Barcelona Open at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Friday.
Rune, ranked No 13, will play Russian Karen Khachanov next.
In the previous rounds of the Barcelona tournament, the 21-year-old Dane won against Spanish wildcard Albert Ramos-Vinolas (7-5, 6-4) and Argentinian Sebastian Baez (4-6, 6-1, 6-2).
Ruud, ranked No 10, won against Colombian qualifier Daniel Elahi Galan (6-4, 6-3) and Serb qualifier Hamad Medjedovic (7-5, 7-5) earlier in the tournament.
