Australian qualifier Philip Sekulic defeated Portuguese Nuno Borges 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 to reach the second round of the Chengdu Open at the Sichuan International Tennis Center on Thursday night.
Sekulic, ranked No 325, will face second seed Lorenzo Musetti next.
