Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas reached the second round of the Chengdu Open by winning against Chinese wildcard Jie Cui 6-1, 6-3 at the Sichuan International Tennis Center on Thursday night.
Varillas, ranked No 70, will play No 3 seed Grigor Dimitrov next.
