Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 5 seed, edged out Cameron Norrie 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 to reach the second round of the China Open at the Olympic Green Tennis Center in Beijing.
Rublev, ranked No 6, will play Frenchman Ugo Humbert next.
