Cincinnati Masters: Darderi retires, Comesana makes third round

Argentinian Francisco Comesana advanced to the third round of the Cincinnati Masters when Italian Luciano Darderi, the No 29 seed, retired at the Lindner Family Tennis Center on Sunday.
Comesana, ranked No 71, led 6-4, 3-1 when Darderi, ranked No 34, pulled out on Sunday evening at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
Darderi asked for a medical time out because of an issue with lower back area when he was about to serve at 4-5 against him.
The Argentinian will face the winner of the match between Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 6 seed, and American Reilly Opelka next.
Francisco Comesana won against Spaniard Jaume Munar (6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of the Cincinnati tournament.
