Jarry defeats Safiullin to reach Cincinnati second round

Chile’s Nicolas Jarry beat Russia’s Roman Safiullin 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to reach the second round of the Western & Southern Open on Monday afternoon.

Jarry, ranked No 26, will face the winner of the match between 11th seed Karen Khachanov and former world No 1 Andy Murray.
