Speculation grows around Sinner’s knee after Milan clinic visit
Corriere della Sera reported that Jannik Sinner’s medical visit in Milan this week was for his knee rather than routine, fuelling speculation over his participation in Cincinnati – a claim not yet confirmed by the world No. 1’s team.

Speculation is mounting in Italy over the fitness of world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, after Corriere della Sera reported that a medical appointment he attended in Milan on Tuesday was not routine, but a check on the condition of his knee. The report has not been confirmed by Sinner or his team.
According to the newspaper, the examination was carried out at the Physioclinic orthopaedic clinic by Professor Gianluca Melegati, a doctor who has previously worked with AC Milan and Italy’s rugby team.
Corriere della Sera reported that a second check-up in the coming days has not been ruled out, ahead of Sinner’s planned departure for the Cincinnati Masters, which begins August 13.
The same report said Sinner was weighing his options for Cincinnati, with skipping the tournament reportedly on the table alongside the possibility of delaying his arrival by a few days. It stressed, however, that his participation in the US Open is not in doubt, with the only open question being which route he takes to get there.
Any Cincinnati absence would be notable given the tournament’s status as the last Masters 1000 before the US Open, and would follow Carlos Alcaraz’s own withdrawal from the event over a long-term wrist injury.
