Citi Open: Cobolli edges past Davidovich Fokina to reach quarter-finals
Flavio Cobolli edged out Davidovich Fokina 1-6, 7-6, 7-6 (7) and will face the winner of the match between Alex Michelsen and Seong-Chan Hong next

Italian Flavio Cobolli, the No 10 seed, reached the last eight of the Citi Open by edging out Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 8 seed, 1-6, 7-6, 7-6 (7) at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Washington.
Cobolli, ranked No 48, will face the winner of the match between American Alex Michelsen, the No 15 seed, and qualifier Seong-Chan Hong next.
In the previous round of the Washington D.C. tournament, the 22-year-old Italian beat Belgian David Goffin (7-6 (4), 6-3).
Davidovich Fokina, ranked No 44, edged out American qualifier Mitchell Krueger (3-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4) in the previous round of the Washington D.C. tournament.
