Citi Open: Dimitrov reaches last 16 after beating McDonald

Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 5 seed, reached the last 16 of the Citi Open by defeating American Mackenzie McDonald 7-6 (6), 6-2 at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington on Tuesday evening.
Dimitrov, ranked No 20, will face the winner of the match between Finn Emil Ruusuvuori and Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka, the No 10 seed, next.
He has not played on the tour since his round of 16 loss to Holger Rune at Wimbledon last month.
McDonald, ranked No 60, won against Argentinian Diego Schwartzman (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round of the Washington D.C. tournament.
