Citi Open: Eubanks reaches last 16, beats lucky loser Shimabukuro

American Christopher Eubanks, the No 11 seed, defeated Japanese lucky loser Sho Shimabukuro 6-3, 6-4 to reach the last 16 of the Citi Open at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington on Wednesday evening.

Eubanks, ranked No 29, will face the winner of the match between Australian Jordan Thompson and Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 7 seed, next.

Shimabukuro, ranked No 161, won against South African Lloyd Harris (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round of the Washington D.C. tournament.
