Korda downs Dimitrov for quarter-final spot in Washington, D.C.

Sebastian Korda won against Grigor Dimitrov 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 on Friday evening and will face Swede Mikael Ymer in the next round

American Sebastian Korda won against Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 5 seed, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Citi Open at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington on Friday evening.

Korda, ranked No 54, will face Swede Mikael Ymer next.

The 22-year-old American beat Belarusian Ilya Ivashka (6-4, 7-6 (5)) and Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 12 seed (6-1, 6-4) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of the Citi Open, Washington D.C., Dimitrov, ranked No 19, edged out Frenchman Adrian Mannarino (6-1, 3-6, 7-5).
