Citi Open: Shelton makes quarter-finalsn defeating Diallo
Ben Shelton won against Gabriel Diallo 6-3, 6-2 on Thursday and will play the winner of the match between Italian Flavio Cobolli, the No 9 seed, and American Frances Tiafoe, the No 6 seed, in the next round

American Ben Shelton, the No 4 seed, beat Canadian Gabriel Diallo, the No 15 seed, 6-3, 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals of the Citi Open at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Washington on Thursday.
Shelton, ranked No 8, will face the winner of the match between Italian Flavio Cobolli, the No 9 seed, and American Frances Tiafoe, the No 6 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Washington D.C. tournament, the 22-year-old American won against wildcard Mackenzie McDonald (6-3, 6-4).
Diallo, ranked No 35, defeated Hungarian Fabian Marozsan (6-3, 6-4).
