German Yannick Hanfmann, the No 7 seed, moved into the second round of the Cordoba Open by beating Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas 5-7, 7-6 (1), 6-1 at the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes on Tuesday.

Hanfmann, ranked No 59, will face qualifier Roman Andres Burruchaga next.
