American Tommy Paul, the second seed, defeated Japanese Taro Daniel 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the last eight of the Dallas Open at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Thursday night.
Paul, ranked No 15, will play the winner of the match between German Dominik Koepfer, the No 8 seed, and Australian Rinky Hijikata next.
In the previous round of the Dallas tournament, Daniel, ranked No 62, benefited from the abandonment of Frenchman Constant Lestienne (4-6, 6-4, 5-0).
