Delray Beach Open: Hijikata makes last eight

Australian Rinky Hijikata moved into the quarter-finals of the Delray Beach Open by edging out Italian Matteo Arnaldi, the No 6 seed, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 at the Delray Beach Stadium and Tennis Center on Wednesday evening.

Hijikata, ranked No 84, will face the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the top seed, and Portuguese Nuno Borges next.

The 22-year-old Australian beat Liam Broady (6-2, 1-6, 6-1) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of the Delray Beach tournament, Arnaldi, ranked No 43, won against Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka (4-6, 6-4, 6-3).
